Some readers who were unable to come to the Manhattan bookstore event earlier this year asked for a rain date. Unfortunately, bookstores don’t work that way (despite the fact that the session was standing room only) and given the vagaries of my schedule, the best fallback is a meeting in a public venue.
So if you are in Manhattan, I hope you can join me this Monday, August 23, at 6:30 PM at Cafe Centro (45th Street between Lexington and Vanderbilt, the north side of Grand Central Terminal). Cafe Centro has a nice outdoors section, which should be enjoyable since the weather looks to be particularly balmy (the forecast is for a high of 78).
Looking forward to seeing you!
Holy cannoli! Mercury is retrograde!
That’s the sort of comment that gives astrology an even worse name than it deserves. By implication, you think everyone should go hide in a bunker for the ~ three weeks when Mercury is retrograde.
Wrong.
Mercury retro means you don’t have all the information. If you chose periods that are favorable from a horary standpoint, what you don’t know won’t hurt you.
Yves appears to have good intuition, or perhaps a decent astrologer in her camp. Monday at 6:30 PM is perfectly fine.
How should we come dressed? I usually wear t-shirts and shorts.
Hhm..this is the heart of midtown…and the place is sorta businessish (as are all places near GCT).
The shorts are probably OK, but how about a bit less casual shirt, like a one of those short sleeved knit shirts, or a Hawaii shirt.
Don’t forget to post photos afterward for those of us who can’t come, ok?
Hi Yves, please do more of these meetings! Not only do I live in Europe, I’ll be in the States in September/October, preparing for a big documentary on the financial crisis and it’s ideological basis.
But I generally find that it is very important people who follow your and other blogs, should have more opportunity to meet in person.
We’ll try to make it!
Look forward to seeing you there.
It’s not exactly balmy here at the moment. Maybe things will change by the evening…
