This lovely rendition of a Christmas classic has already gone viral, but even if you’ve seen it, I suspect you’ll enjoy a second viewing. And both having sung in choruses and produced musical theater, I can’t get over the tenors’ ranges…
Hope you have a Merry Christmas, and if you aren’t the Christmas-observing sort, that you enjoy a break over this holiday period!
So sweet. Thanks. And Merry Christmas to all.
Thanks and Merry Christmas!
“Peace on the earth, good will to men”. Ho, ho, ho, and a Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
Very nice.
Also loved your OPED in Truthout. Linked it on my FB page. Thanks.
Lovely voices in that video. I’m still partial to Joan Jett’s version, though.

Merry Christmas and thanks to all of the NC community for sharing your wit, wisdom, and genuine concern for the well-being of others this past year.
Merry Christmas!
Both thanks to Yves, and to the entire NC community.
Best Wishes to one and all for Christmas too.

Montserrat Figueras – Canção De Embalar (A Lullaby)
beautiful
“I can’t get over the tenors’ ranges…”
Yeah, that’s very impressive.
At the risk of sounding like a first-class Scrooge, I’d much prefer to see an original version as opposed to lip-synching in an ostensibly pretty environment.
Yeah, good point. How do we know Kaplan is really singing in that video? Someone could be throwing their voice.
He does have a little silly grin on his face. Like he’s up to something.
Thank you for this beautiful rendition. I had previously thought this song related to the loss of drummer boys in the American Civil War (or “The War Between the States” for some south of the Mason Dixon). But this post caused me to delve a bit and find out my historical understanding of the song’s roots is very wrong. Wikipedia has a nice summary of the history of the song and its spiritual interpretation. I am intrigued by the roles various vocalists and musicians have played in popularizing the song over time, including the von Trapp family – who were popularized in the film “The Sound of Music”: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Drummer_Boy
Thank you for this site. Merry Christmas.
Don’t care much for Christmas but love Christmas music. Little Drummer Boy is perhaps my least favorite Xmas song and have avoided looking at this until now – but it was beautiful – really impressive voices and beautiful harmonies. I’m a show tunes fan!
Thank you, Yves and Lambert, for all your hard work keeping the Naked Capitalism site and community the best.
This is my favorite rendition of the song. I wish I could sing half as well a those individuals. Happy Holidays to Yves, Lambert and all of the dedicated readers of NC.
Beautiful!
This is a rendition that hits me heart and soul.
