Last Chance for Our Fundraiser, Just About to Beat Our Donor Targets!

We’ve had an amazing response in the last few hours of our fundraiser. Since our last appeal, donations spiked, with 34 more of you giving, bringing our donor total to 1336, just 14 shy of our new goal of 1350 donors. And as a result of these generous contributions, we closed the gap of meeting our final goal, that of $25,000 to fund more original reporting, from $3,475 to only $960 dollars!

I’ve gotten many heartfelt notes from readers, and quite a few come from people within the financial services industry, who recognize that banking has become a business increasingly dedicated to extraction and looting. They are dismayed at the changes they’ve seen in the industry over the course of their career. And readers also want to see more activism. From Joanne:

I hope there will be more opportunities for you to rally your “community” (myself included) to take action, like the letter writing campaign in California when you pointed a finger at the California public pension/private equity scandal. And, more posts about people or organizations that are pushing back against the global neo-liberal elites and winning (even if only in the court of public opinion) would be greatly appreciated.

So there are people either now or not long ago in the financial services industry who concur with what many of you see from the outside: that banking, more than ever, serves the interests of the elites at the expense of everyone else. And it’s when we see fractures like this, among insiders, within the elites, that change becomes possible.

Be one of the last 14 to push our fundraiser over the top. Let’s see if we can get to 1350 donors and hit our last monetary target before the close of this effort, midnight PST.
