Please can someone tell me the ‘correct’ format for phone and postcode (UK) for the NC paypal engine? I have tried everything i can think of to no avail.

Hi jabawocky, first off, thanks for the donation (or the so-far attempts at it anyway!)
The U.K. post code masks should be accepted (e.g. AANN AANN, ANN NAA and so on) but PayPal (sigh, PayPal…) are terrible at updating this with Post Office quarterly data files, sometimes they seem to go for years without processing a new version to pick up changes. If you can’t get your “real” post code to work, try the code without any space between the first block and the second block,e.g. “SP12 3TK” becomes “SP123TK”. And finally you can always try a dopey US Zip Code (e.g. “90210”).
For the phone number, it might not be a mandatory field so try leaving it blank. If you have to put something in, try using the international format so (01356) 365119 becomes 00441356365119.
If you’re still having bother, having tried these, just post a follow-on message saying “I’m still stuck up the creek without a paddle” or equivalent — I’ll check your email address from WordPress backstage and if you like (remember to use an email address you look at!) I can contact you to ask how much you were going to donate and make the donation for you. If you get guilt pangs, I’ll give you a contact address and you can send me a cheque or something.

Yves, you are notably reticent about whether a deduction to NC is tax-deductible. If I contribute, am I running up the national debt or not, SVP?
Contributions to NC are not tax deductible.
I just want to underline again that this part of the fundraiser is for original reporting, which is our reason for existence. Much as we all love the cute animals and Links, CalPERS does not fear Naked Capitalism for those reasons. CalPERS fears NC because NC can not only get the story, it can explain it.
