Looking very much forward to meeting readers in the South (although some have made the trek to meetups in the North). Participants in past meetups have enjoyed the lively discussions with other members of the Naked Capitalism community, so come and get to know some like-minded people!
For Atlanta, we will be at Manuel’s Tavern. The reader responses suggest that we’ll have a relatively small group, probably 10 to 20, so a room isn’t as critical as with a bigger bunch. The big advantage of Manuel’s Tavern is they do not play music, so it’s a good spot for conversation. And management has set aside some tables in a corner, so that should help.

I’m flying into Atlanta that afternoon, and unless there is a mishap, I should have ample time to get to the meetup from the very start.

See y’all soon!
Looking forward to Atlanta meetup!
I’m planning on being there! Don’t get freaked out if you see pictures of Bill and Hillary on the wall. Manuel’s Tavern has been a Democratic Party “hangout” since the ’50s. The Atlanta Contra Dance Group used to meet there from the 1980s to about 2006. There used to be a nice meeting room in the corner of the building called “The Bird’s Nest.” You would go up some stairs to get to the room.
Aaarrggh! I have a meeting I must chair at 5:00 Wednesday. But Manuel’s is the very best place to have the meetup, historically and otherwise! Have fun and spread some friendly subversion, which Atlanta and the rest of the Empire State of the South desperately need.
If you don’t get done too late and still have the energy, swing by! We had a small group in Philly and we ran until 9:30 PM. Or if Manuel’s is a bit out of your way, call over first.
Yay! Count me in! I’ll see you at Manuel’s Tavern!!!
I’m so excited!!!
