Thanks! Hit Our Third Fundraiser Target Quickly, Onto the Fourth: Guest Bloggers

Thanks to the prompt responses of over 715 members of the Naked Capitalism community, we’ve met our first target, an increased budget for site improvements and IT support, and the second target, funding for meetups, travel and related site coverage, and our third, funding comments section support, at a rapid clip.

You donations are a statement that you value this community and want a better debate and a better society and are willing to invest to have us do more to make Naked Capitalism be an even more effective voice for you. If you haven’t had time to give yet, please visit our Tip Jar to support our efforts. Whatever you can give, whether $10 or $1000, helps us provide you with your daily diet of incisive commentary, analysis, news, cute animal pictures and soothing plantidotes, as well as a place to hang out with the like-minded.

We are already $1,930 towards our goal of $19,000 for our guest bloggers.

As regular readers may know, over the years, we’ve been improving the caliber of writers who contribute to this site. We like to send writers who’ve contributed regularly like Lambert and Jerri-Lynn Scofield, an honorarium out of the fundraiser. Even though we pay our contributors for helping fill this site’s regular schedule at a good level, writing isn’t a very well remunerated line of work. Our guest bloggers regularly turn out in-depth analysis quick, but the fact that they can do so is a result of their considerable experience and expertise. So we hope you’ll acknowledge their skills and dedication by chipping in at the Tip Jar.

This year, because some of our past regulars have had other commitments this year, the load has fallen on fewer people than before. This year, Lambert has done a backbreaking amount of work, between his considerable help in managing our ever-growing and some times overly contentious comments section, tech and admin, and bailing me out way too often. So I hope you’ll continue to be generous, since there is absolutely no way I could have kept the site going without their considerable help. Jerri-Lynn has added new beats on sustainability, both the right to repair and combatting the pervasive use of plastics.

Please give them a really generous “thank you” for all their diligent and valuable efforts!
