Holiday Weekend Coverage

Dear patient readers,

This is the last big holiday weekend of the summer in the US, and many Europeans are also on August breaks, presumably not returning till Monday or perhaps even later in the week. We went a bit light on posts yesterday and will continue to do so through and including Monday. But you’ll get your usual Links and two additional pieces each day. World events are not obligingly falling off much, so we will keep you current!

And those of you who are or will soon be on a mini vacation, enjoy your break!

    Is this an open thread?
    I’ve only these few thoughts:
    Don’t succumb to TDS;
Kamala is beholden to the War Bird too.
    Vote For Peace.
None of which the the Uniparty supports.
Sorry if this violates your terms of posting.
    Please delete if it does.
    Love to All,

If I had to suggest just one simple slogan to mull over during the holiday week, it would be: Trump will be worse for America but better for the world and Harris will be worse for the world but better for America. Take your pick.

More like a brain cancer with a metastasis in stomach, or stomach cancer with a metastasis in brain. Just an opinion from way outside of USA, but this is about POTUS and either will be bad for America and worse for the world.

Both USS-HarriSS and USS-Trump will be bad in any sense though HarriSS looks more dangerous with regards to foreign affairs with her lethal army. Hey, but danger with hope and joy even if Trump is way funnier than HarriSS.

perfect!! thx – oh so perfect…..brought tears, not of joy –
When I get lonesome, a tear falls from my cheek
There’s gonna be an ocean in the middle of the week
        enjoy Montreux Ms X

The so-called choice is Red Team Genocide or Blue Team Genocide. I’m colorblind, so it all looks like Genocide to me

If you don’t like that choice, please consider finding out about what other choices there are, and how you can make them. (But don’t ask your spin doctor. . . .)

Good timing for a sanity break…that won’t last but nevertheless better than zero break. I took a shorter trip and visited one of America’s national parks, and it was a welcome respite. Shenandoah NP is quite easy to reach by car, no air travel at least for myself.

And a h/t for the newest Alien movie entry to the long running franchise. Nerds and geeks alike may just find all manner of breadcrumbs in the Romulus film. First movie I have watched at a theater in several years.

I hope you and the whole NC team truly get to unwind and enjoy some “west and wewaxation”, to use the immortal words of Elmer Fudd. May your weekend be fwee of wascally wabbits!

The War on Cash has legs here at Burning Man, as the only thing you can buy is large bags of ice for $12, and they prefer plastic but will grudgingly accept greenbacks.

A wonderful time with the best weather of the 9 burns I’ve been to…

Unlike a crowd of 45,531 who all watched a double play in the 3rd inning of a MLB game and can relate to that experience, everybody’s burn is different.

Lots of foreigners in attendance, I’ve met about a dozen Russians and a few Ukrainians-all on neutral ground as it were.

I realize the emphasis in the main stream media is on billionaires attending, so let me give the lowdown on our camp of 35 peeps.

We have a couple of world class free climbers, a retired JPL engineer, a DJ from the bay area, a family of 5 who drove from Wisconsin, a family of 4 from Cucamonga, an importer of Japanese antiques, and a number of just regular Joes & Janes, all having fun.
