Announcing Our New Small Donation “Double Your Donations” Challenge

Two benevolent donors have joined forces to make sure all readers can participate in our “Double Your Donations” challenges and multiply their contributions. They are issuing a challenge to double all donations under $50, up to a total of $2000.

In addition, to further recognize small donations, this challenge includes an additional component for the well-heeled to support their gifts: The next ten donations of $100 will also be part of this campaign, bringing the total matched to $3000. So please, without further delay, go to the Tip Jar and take them up on their sporting offer!

However, even with so many of our supporters generously funding these special donor drives, a very encouraging level of first-time contributors, and even some of you already having given twice, we are still behind where we need to be in this fundraiser, worryingly so. Our total donation numbers are soft. So if you haven’t had the time yet, please head to the Tip Jar now and chip in! Every donation counts.

Many of you came for the links, or the commentary, or information about a particular topic but stayed for the kibbitzing. Readers again and again tell us that Naked Capitalism’ standout comments section is what keeps them coming back. Where else can such an incredible mix of backgrounds and experience, including but hardly limited to subsistence farmers, the homeless, ride-share drivers, students, retired cooks, former mercs, librarians, private equity professionals, lawyers, engineers from many specialities, health industry administrators, data mavens, city planners, Hollywood professionals, politicians and professional writers mingle and exchange idea regularly?

What helps maintain this diverse, in the best sense of the word, commentariat, is our socialist funding model. We will always keep the site free for reading and making comments (the latter with as few curbs as possible to keep the discussions civil and well-grounded). But we ask you to support this effort as you are able. So please chip in at the Tip Jar to keep our online version of the best neighborhood bar/coffee shop evah humming. Some confirmation from Rainlover:

I cannot express how much NC has enriched my life. Reading the articles and especially the commentary has taught me how to argue logically and how to back up those arguments with evidence. I’ve also been introduced to many new sites and commentators, all of which is deeply appreciated.

I’m so glad your relocation has been successful and I wish you many more years of health and happiness as well as to Lambert and the rest of your capable crew.

And Skip Intro:

Shared my good fortune. This site and community are worth far more than mere money, nonetheless.

From Tom C:

$40 check coming your way

I’m very grateful for NC.

Best regards to all.

From TS, who has given regularly in the past:

All I can send is my thanks, I have been living on a small fixed income for several years and due to inflation I can not even afford internet service.
Thank you for providing a space for rational discourse at no small risk to yourself.
Stay safe, enjoy the show and if I did buy the right lottery ticket….

We have already had some readers top up their gifts on behalf of those who are too budget-crunched to right now. From Kevin C:

check is in the mail – US $125.00

That’s $100 from me and $25 from someone who would like to donate, but cannot.

And Sporble:

Couldn’t turn down the match – so after my initial $100 a couple days ago I just sent you another $200.

In a way, I’m ashamed: $300 is “bupkiss” when I consider the blood, sweat and tears – not to mention the wisdom, humor and real community/solidarity feeling – that NC gives us all.

That said, it’s impossible for me to put a price on “What NC Gives”.

I encourage everyone to give whatever they’re comfortable with!

NC is priceless.

You can make your contribution here, via check, debit or credit card, or PayPal. If you give by check (we very much like checks!), please let us know by e-mailing us at yves@nakedcapitalism.com with “Small Donations Challenge” in the subject line.

Thanks our new donor for his generosity, and I hope readers will respond in kind.

If $50 is a lot for you, don’t let that prevent you from making a donation. Use this challenge to double donations up to that amount. Every contribution helps us meet our goals.

And the other important way to help is by telling others about our work, whether in person to friends, family, and colleagues, or in social media like Facebook and Twitter. So I hope you’ll take our princely pair of supports up on their fundraiser challenge in whatever way you can!

Heading to tip jar now for 100$. Thanks a lot all for the work of creating this truly exceptional public space. Particular thanks for the reporting on Latin American issues. Please stay strong despite attacks all around on open press (i.e. take breaks to stay sane).
